2011 Xstrata Great Western Games – Great Support, Great Results, Great Events…

Remote hockey in The Gulf kicked off the ‘moving feast of sport’; The 2011 Xstrata Great Western Games. 

Under the guidance of Normanton local Mike Stevenson, Queensland Remote Hockey used the Xstrata Great Western Games to engage participants to progress from school sport to club sport in the northern gulf region.    More Info......

bhp Billiton North Queensland Development Bursaries.

The North Queensland Sports Foundation has finalised the list of thirty two young North Queenslanders to receive North Queensland Sport Development Bursaries. The North Queensland Sports Foundation has again combined with BHP Billiton Cannington Mine to distribute a total of $24,000 toward the development of the sporting careers of young North Queenslanders.
The thirty two young North Queenslanders will receive $750 each towards fostering their sporting careers. To further acknowledge their achievements, the recipients are also awarded exclusive embroidered track-tops identifying their award. Presentations of the bursaries are being held at local Council offices throughout the north.
