The launch of the North Queensland Sport Development Bursary was held at Townsville High School on 27 November 2003.
BHP Billiton Cannington Mine has sponsored the Bursaries since 2004 with a total of 244 young North Queensland Athletes to date receiving bursaries. This generous sponsor has recognised the needs of the remote and regional sporting youth by raising the individual bursary amount from $500 to $750.
